 Burleigh Heads
Book Accomodation at Burleigh Heads
Around 7km south of Surfers, BURLEIGH HEADS consists of a traffic bottleneck where the highway dodges between the beach and a rounded headland. Fifty years ago, before the bitumen and paving took over, this was all dense eucalypt and vine forest, the last fragment of which survives as Burleigh Head national park . Entrance is on foot from the car park on the Esplanade, or turn sharply at the lights below the hill just south of the headland for the visitors information centre (daily 9am-4pm; tel 07/5535 3032).

Dining, Shopping & Entertainment
Dining & Restaurants
Burleigh has a relaxed village atmosphere and the restaurants on Goodwin Terrace offer some of the best sea views on the Gold Coast.

Local Area & Entertainment
Geologically , Burleigh Heads stems from the prehistoric eruptions of the Mount Warning volcano, 30km to the southwest. Lava surfaced through vents, cooling to tall hexagonal basalt columns, now mostly tumbled and covered in vines.
